Roger Corman's "horroromedy" The Little Shop of Horrors was released to rave
reviews in 1960. The film chronicled a ragtag team of employees at a Skid Row flower shop, at the center of which was Seymour Krelboined, a downtrodden florist who finds himself on the outs with the law, after a rare Japanese plant he has been tending morphs into a giant horticultural horror show with its lust for human blood. This film was the basis for the hit Broadway musical as well as the 1986 Frank Oz film of the same name. It also introduced the world to a 23-year-old Jack Nicholson.
Bob Baker Marionette Theater is putting its own spin on the fan favorite by hosting this live reading with a stellar lineup. Embellished by highlights from the currently running Bob Baker Marionette Theater show, Hallowe'en Spooktacular, as well as an Audrey Jr. photo booth, a pumpkin flavored IPA generously donated by Angel City Brewery and live musical accompaniment by Drennon Davis (Imaginary Radio) and Mike Nissen (Imaginary Radio, A House for Lions).
All proceeds will go to the Theater and it's continuing mission of entertaining, educating, celebrating and preserving the Bob Baker puppetry arts!
