The Bob Baker Marionette Theater is celebrating its final month of programming at 1345 W. 1st Street with some of our best friends and collaborators! We are proud to showcase an entire month of special events celebrating the Bob Baker Marionette Theater’s 55 years of programming at this location– as well as some exciting glimpses into our exciting future (and new home)!

Roofless painters: oil painting class

Nov. 6 and Nov. 13 at 7:00pm

Roofless Painters is a nomadic painting atelier and gallery in Los Angeles providing art education and exhibits to art-craving elves. Join them as they oil paint the Bob Baker Marionettes– no previous experience is required and all supplies are provided!

movie screening: calder’s circus!

Nov. 8 at 8:00pm

Bob Baker Marionette Theater and La Collectionneuse celebrate the Circus with a screening of “Calder’s Circus” which profiles an artistic rendering of a circus created by the American artist Alexander Calder. Celebrate with a movie and Bob Baker performances from our “Circus” show!

Bob & Rene: A Double Bill of Puppet Greats!

Life-long friends and contemporaries, Bob Baker and fellow giant of puppetry, Rene, will dazzle our stage one last time at the historic Bob Baker Marionette Theater. A marionette double bill of two Los Angeles puppet treasures; the Bob Baker Marionette Theater and Joe Selph present a marionette spectacular revue of two kindred spirits and their life's work.

Charles phoenix Presents: BBMT this is your life!

Don’t miss this very special performance hosted by Ambassador of Americana, Charles Phoenix, at Los Angeles’ time-honored palace of puppetry. Featuring photos, videos, and dozens of mesmerizing marionettes specially chosen for this very historic event!

Women in vaudeville: the final show!

Nov. 11 at 7:00pm

Hosted by Lindsay Benner, world renowned juggler and entertainer, this family friendly evening will highlight females of magnificent talent and echoes of the bygone and golden era of Vaudevillian comedy and performance!

Tom Explores Los Angeles presents: HONK!

Nov. 14 at 7:30pm

Honk! is a Night of Story Telling and Puppet Performances told through the windshield with readings from LA luminaries Lynell George, Sam Sweet and urban planner, Max Podemski. Tom Carroll will be hosting the evening and debuting a new episode of his documentary series, "Tom Explores Los Angeles."

5 Every Day presents CLUB PUPPET, an after-hours dance party at the Bob Baker Marionette Theater. Come celebrate the Bob Baker Marionettes’ final days in their historic Echo Park theater by joining them on the dance floor, as the theater transforms for one night only into a colorful late-night disco of red velvet, tinsel, and imagination. Dublab DJs.

A musical celebration of all things Bob Baker! Featuring SAD GIRL, HEALING GEMS, and, of course, the Bob Baker Marionettes!

Tom Kenny (the voice of spongebob) and Screen novelties present… holiday brew!

A beautiful brew of all our favorite holidays! Famed stop-motion animation company Screen Novelties and Tom Kenny (a.k.a the voice of SpongeBob!) present an evening of animation, puppets, and seasonal spectaculars– along with a ROCKnSOUL music revue from Tom Kenny and the Hi-Seas!
