4 years of Bob Baker Day celebrations… will you be at our 5th??
Our theme for Bob Baker Day 2019 is dedicated to the whimsy and kinetic energy of the Pinwheel!
Bob Baker decorated the backyard of his home, a Los Angeles townhouse on N. New Hampshire Ave. in which he spent his entire lifetime, with colorful Pinwheels of every shape and size. A Pinwheel is a handheld wind-driven child's toy made of paper or plastic, and with just a little help from the wind, it’s able to whirl in a whimsical blur of colors and delight. It also helps us visualize the wonder and strength of the unseen energy surrounding and assisting us everyday.
In light of our In LA To Stay campaign’s growing success and our future being sweeter than it has ever been, we feel the Pinwheel perfectly encapsulates the current state of the Bob Baker Marionette Theater, while our gracious community of friends and supporters represent the powerful wind that continues to help whirl us into a brilliant radiance of art, puppetry, preservation, rejuvenation... and perseverance. Our spinning Pinwheel is a direct reflection of YOU, and while Bob Baker Day is the celebration of one very special person's Birthday, it's also our way of showing you that we SEE you as the powerful strength you are - and you’re beautiful!
