WELCOME TO THE BOB BAKER MARIONETTE THEATER!
A trip to BBMT is like no other theater experience! The puppets perform in the round (that means they use every little bit of the stage, and perform to all sides!) Our dazzling collection consists of over 2000 marionettes that have all been lovingly handcrafted by Bob Baker’s team over the past 60+ years - each performance at the theater showcases about 100 marionettes from the collection!
COME INSIDE
Hand-painted vignettes with colorful and playful puppet displays surround you in the Theater - the glamorous red curtains hide the show you are about to see - and Mr. Ed Torres welcomes you with marvelous music, live on the Organ! As you wait for the show begin, there are so many things to see and hear all around you!
LIGHTS, DROPS, AND PRACTICAL EFFECTS
The whole stage comes to life during each performance! There will be dramatic lighting, curtain changes, prop pieces, and magical moments that will leave you in awe!
PUPPET INTERACTIONS
Our puppets are social! During performances, the puppets may come close to say Hello! - we ask that grown-ups help us keep little hands from pulling or poking the puppets, but please, take all the photos you wish!
The view from our floor cushions brings the puppets to you!
Grown-ups are welcome to join their kiddos on the carpet, but we kindly ask that they leave the very front row for our smaller guests. (We also have plenty of theater seats if you’d prefer a proper seat!)
Our newest seating offers a perch above the rest for an excellent view of the show!
THE BEST VIEW IN THE HOUSE
We encourage kids (and kids at heart) to take a seat criss-cross-applesauce in our front rows on a floor cushion on our famous red carpet to see the show from puppet-eye-level!
Our historic theater seats are a comfortable seat for the whole show!
Both floor seating and theater chairs are available options when you book tickets to our main season shows. And we now have a third option for you to book: select seats in our Puppet Parlor! This is a special, new perch to view the show on our historic pink seats, but please note that due to the height, we do not recommend these seats for young children.

It has been a Bob Baker tradition for more than 60 years to end each performance with a sweet treat. As you are exiting the theater, be sure to pick your favorite - vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry!
