Hollywood isn’t a place….It’s a puppet show!
The people and places of the City of Angels come to puppet life in Hooray LA! First performed in 1981 for the Los Angeles Bicentennial and recently revived by our puppeteers, fabrication workshop, staff, and community collaborators, the production features handcrafted marionettes inviting us into the history of LA, from the 1933 earthquake to development of the LA freeways to the mountains of Griffith Park where one lone mountain lion looks for love… And so much more!
A born & raised Angeleno, Hooray LA is Bob Baker’s masterpiece, an ode to his city and the last new show he ever created. To celebrate the Theater’s 60th birthday, step inside our version of Los Angeles with lovingly crafted, new additions that capture the heart of the city in 2024, including entirely new bear and trout marionettes in an ode to the LA River, as well as recently revised sets and puppets that more accurately represent the history of Los Angeles.

FRIDAY EVENING SHOWS ARE HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS!
Due to popular demand, Friday evening shows are back! And these aren't just any shows — these are Hollywood Nights!
Flash that award-winning smile and join us in the evenings of fabulousness fit for old Hollywood, with all the strings attached, of course. Rub elbows with all things Bob Baker with pre- and post-show fun including ephemera from BBMT's film & TV history, photo-ops after the show, music, and take away goodies, as well as food trucks and pop-ups on select dates. Plus, you'll be treated to the show of the season, the rave of tinsel town: Hooray LA!
So don your most fabulous clothes fit for the red carpet and join us for Hollywood Nights by purchasing a ticket for any Friday evening show during our Hooray LA season. Costumes are welcome and encouraged!
SENSORY-FRIENDLY HOORAY LA!
We want our theater to be an accessible space for all of our patrons. We’re offering a sensory-friendly version of Hooray LA on Sunday, May 5th 10:30 am for guests who would prefer a show environment with modifications for reduced sensory aspects and additional accommodations

Guests are free to talk during the show
Designated rest and quiet space in the lobby available during the show
If you’d like to attend the sensory-friendly show, please book your tickets for May 5th at 10:30 am here. If you do not want to be approached by puppets during the show, please reserve a seat on the left-hand side of the theater, indicated in blue (floor seats) and orange (chair seats).
